Invitation to Collaboration
General Project Description
The “Encyclopedia of Iranologists Studies” operates as a private research group. This research group consists of a five-member management team and a group of writers. All texts and articles prepared by the esteemed authors are published under their names on the website after going through proofreading and editing. It is worth mentioning that the hosting and domain of this website are registered outside Iran, and students of Iranology inside and outside the country, Iranology centers, and all researchers in this field shape its main target audience.
Iran is a land that has attracted the highest number of foreign researchers and renowned Orientalists over the centuries. This encyclopedia is an effort to honor the labors of these great figures. In today’s scientific and academic world, the field of Iranology is highly regarded and well-established, with many prestigious universities worldwide offering educational programs in this field for years. Renowned Iranian and foreign professors are currently teaching in the field of Iranology at these universities.
The main goal of this project is to honor the name and memory of researchers who have dedicated their lives to understanding and introducing Iran; men and women who, with indescribable enthusiasm, stayed away from their homeland to study and identify the unknown or lesser-known of this land. Those who learned Persian or other Iranian languages with passion and traveled far to delve into the culture and history of this land. Undoubtedly, if it weren’t for the efforts of these Iranologists, the world would know less about Iran today. They were the ones who introduced Iran to the world with their pen and thought, immortalizing the name of this land in history.
Our goal is to collect and document works that have been authored about Iran over the centuries and to provide public access to these works. This project is not limited to the works of renowned Iranologists but also includes writings by young researchers and all those who have even glanced at Iran. Another goal of this project is to identify and introduce the notable figures of Iran from the premodern age to the present day, so they can be properly introduced to researchers and research centers around the world.
The “Encyclopedia of Iranologists Studies” project began in 2011, focusing on a broad introduction of Iranologists. We believe that the definition of an Iranologist should not be limited to those who have dedicated their entire lives to understanding Iran; rather, anyone who has researched Iran with love and interest, even if they have only a cursory glance at this land, deserves to be introduced, and their perspective can open a new window to various aspects of this land.
In this journey, we welcome the collaboration of all researchers and enthusiasts of Iran. New ideas and fresh perspectives will enrich this project.
