The main group of Iranologists
Ulrich Marzolph is a German Iranologist and scholar of Persian folk literature. He has provided a systematic classification of Iranian tales and conducted extensive research on One Thousand and One Nights. Marzolf is also renowned for his perspectives on the images in Persian lithographed manuscripts.
Bert Fragner, an Austrian Iranologist and historian, focused on a broad range of topics in Iranian history, including political history from the medieval period to the modern era, economic and social history, administrative and institutional history, diplomatic studies, the cultural history of the Persian language, Iran in the context of global developments, Iranian cities and societies, as well as culinary culture. His coined term “Persophonia” is well known for its emphasis on the connection between land, language, and identity.
